Posso tirarmi indietro davanti ad uno sport romance?! Ma direi proprio di no! E direi anche che Highest Point รจ uno di quelli buoni, uno di quelli che ci propone non uno ma ben due sport e pure fuori dal comune!
Quella che abbiamo davanti รจ la storia di Alec Hastings, uno scalatore professionista e di fama mondiale che fa coppia sportiva con Finn, suo migliore amico da anni. Alec รจ un personaggio singolare, uno che riesce a respirare e a sentirsi a casa solo quando si trova sulla cima di una montagna, ancora meglio se riesce a battere qualche record nel farlo. Ma รจ costretto a rivedere un po’ la sua quotidianitร quando Finn rimane ferito in un incidente durante una scalata.
Nel tentare di mantenere la promessa fatta a Finn, Alec torna in Alaska, in un paesino in mezzo alle montagne e dove tutti si conoscono. Ma c’รจ una persona fuori posta, una ragazza tutta peperina e alquanto fastidiosa ma che ha la capacitร di arrivare in parti che Alec teneva segregate. Questa ragazza รจ Clementine, una ballerina professionista rimasta delusa dall’ennesimo rifiuto di una parte piรน importante e che torna in quella che lei considera casa, quella della nonna.
Entrambi si ritrovano in questa terra un po’ per caso e un po’ per forze esterne. Ma quella che sembrava quasi una “punizione”, potrebbe rivelarsi una possibilitร di riscoperta, un modo per poter scoprire nuove parti di sรฉ e che, a volte, le cose veramente importanti nella vita non sono un ruolo di spicco in uno spettacolo o la conquista di una nuova vetta, bensรฌ qualcosa che potrebbe essere molto piรน vicino e molto piรน semplice.
La parte che ho adorato di piรน รจ il modo in cui Alec e Clem si completano a vicenda, come ognuno sproni l’altro a dare il meglio di sรฉ e a sperimentare cose nuove… anche un po’ obbligandolo scherzosamente!
Nota di merito va anche a Finn, che riesce a far sorridere tutti anche nei momenti piรน bui, ma anche alla nonna di Clem, che sa sempre come riscaldare i nostri cuori e che รจ un esempio perfetto di come una persona dovrebbe supportare e aiutare chi ama.

Can I shy away from a sports romance?! Absolutely not! And I'd also say that Highest Point is one of the good ones, one that offers us not one but two sports, and some quite unusual ones at that!
What we have before us is the story of Alec Hastings, a world-renowned professional climber who is in a sporting relationship with Finn, his best friend for years. Alec is a singular character, someone who can breathe and feel at home only when he's on top of a mountain, even better if he manages to break a few records while doing so. But he's forced to rethink his daily routine a bit when Finn is injured in a climbing accident.
In an attempt to keep his promise to Finn, Alec returns to Alaska, to a small town in the mountains where everyone knows each other. But there's someone out of place, a feisty and somewhat annoying girl who has the ability to get to the places Alec kept hidden. This girl is Clementine, a professional dancer disappointed by yet another rejection of a more important role and who returns to what she considers home, her grandmother's.
Both find themselves in this land partly by chance and partly by external forces. But what seemed almost like a "punishment" could turn out to be a chance for rediscovery, a way to discover new parts of themselves and that, sometimes, the truly important things in life aren't a leading role in a show or the conquest of a new peak, but something that could be much closer and much simpler.
The part I loved most was how Alec and Clem complement each other, how they push each other to be the best they can be and try new things... even playfully forcing them a little
Special mention also goes to Finn, who manages to make everyone smile even in the darkest moments, and to Clem's grandmother, who always knows how to warm our hearts and is a perfect example of how a person should support and help those they love.
