Dopo aver letto tutta la saga Dark Hearts scritta da Jagger Cole, ormai mi è piuttosto chiaro che la scrittura dell’autore sia per me una conferma. Quindi, quando ho scoperto che dopo il termine della saga principale, non potevo non avere la curiosità alle stelle.
Toxic Love è il primo volume di una nuova saga, è vero, ma che è anche collegata alla Dark Hearts, infatti ritroviamo Dante, personaggio che avevamo già incontrato, anche se non approfonditamente.
Dante, per me, ha avuto sempre un certo fascino, quindi, ero molto contenta di vederlo protagonista di un intero libro e devo ammettere che non ha deluso le mie aspettative. Con lui ritroviamo il segno distintivo dell’autore e la sua penna fluida ed incisiva, creando personaggi e protagonisti forti, ben caratterizzati e che lasciano il segno.
Tra le pagine di questo libro troviamo come trope principale quello del #marriageofconvenience. Infatti, Dante dovrebbe spostare una ragazza di 18 anni per salvare il suo club (si, proprio quello, il Club Venom che abbiamo già trovato negli altri libri), ma Tempest è disposta a tutto pur di impedire questo matrimonio, incluso prendere il posto della sposa. Il rapporto tra i due non nasce sotto i migliori auspici, ma è il modo in cui essa evolve che farà perdere la testa al lettore. Vi avviso, non andrà esattamente come ci si potrebbe aspettare, perché ci sarà un particolare plot-twist che rimescolerà tutte le carte in tavola e vi lascerà a dir poco di stucco.
Quindi, se volete un dark romance scritto bene, che vi faccia tenere col fiato sospeso su più fronti, con una buona dose di emozioni forti e rivelazioni sconvolgenti, direi che questo libro fa per voi!

After reading the entire Dark Hearts saga written by Jagger Cole, it is now quite clear to me that the author's writing is a confirmation for me. So, when I discovered that after the end of the main saga, I couldn't help but be curious.
Toxic Love is the first volume of a new saga, it's true, but which is also connected to Dark Hearts, in fact we find Dante again, a character we had already met, even if not in depth.
Dante, for me, has always had a certain charm, therefore, I was very happy to see him as the protagonist of an entire book and I must admit that he did not disappoint my expectations. With him we find the author's distinctive mark and his fluid and incisive pen, creating strong, well-characterized characters and protagonists who leave their mark.
Among the pages of this book we find the marriage of convenience as the main trope. In fact, Dante would have to move an 18 year old girl to save his club (yes, that very one, the Venom Club that we have already found in the other books), but Tempest is willing to do anything to prevent this marriage, including taking the place of the wife. The relationship between the two does not begin under the best auspices, but it is the way in which it evolves that will make the reader lose his mind. I warn you, it won't go exactly as you might expect, because there will be a particular plot-twist that will shuffle all the cards on the table and will leave you stunned to say the least.
So, if you want a well-written dark romance that will keep you in suspense on multiple fronts, with a good dose of strong emotions and shocking revelations, I'd say this book is for you!
