AMATE I LIBRI CON UNA PROTAGONISTA FORTE E DI CARATTERE?
Allora, ALLORA… nell’ultima recensione vi ho parlato di un dark romance che mi aveva un po’ deluso, ma ora, ragazzi miei, siamo tornati in carreggiata. Oh si, perché questo è stata una vera e propria rivelazione! In questo libro, sembra che V. Rivière abbia dato tutta se stessa e, per essere l’opera prima di questa autrice, devo ammettere che è talmente ben fatto che sembra scritto da uno scrittore navigato.
Con An Empire Of Maddness siamo al secondo volume della saga, in questo caso ci siamo spostati nella cittadina di Greensburg, un luogo dove la criminalità è particolarmente fiorente ma vive coperta dalla patina brillante di società ricca di business. Proprio qui vive Victoria, una ragazza che ha il polso forte e che sa quello che vuole, specialmente per quanto riguarda Apocalys, la sua organizzazione. Ma è qui che troviamo Maddox, un personaggio che definire controverso è dire poco, un enigma vivente che ha una certa inclinazione ed ossessione verso la nostra protagonista. Vi lascio immaginare cosa potrà mai succedere quando le loro strade si incrociano e non solo per l’insano volere di lui.
Sebbene in questo volume ci siano ovviamente tutte le caratteristiche che rendono un libro uno di questo genere, la cosa che mi ha stupita ed incollato alle pagine è un’altra. Si, abbiamo una bella dose di enemies to lovers, comportamenti e situazioni al limite, scene adrenaliniche e tutto ciò che amo leggere nei mafia romance. Ma, ragazzi, qui c’è molto molto di più. L’autrice utilizza una scrittura sofisticata, ma non complicata, per andare ad approfondire tematiche importanti e delicate, trasmettendole tramite la storia dei protagonisti.
Ho amato come questi argomenti sono stati trattati anche in base ai personaggi che li hanno provati sulla loro pelle e, soprattutto, la grande capacità di infonderne l’importanza al lettore senza, però, sopraffarlo.
Onestamente ci sarebbe così tanto altro da dire, ma mi trovo in una di quelle situazioni in cui il mio cervello mi dice mille cose in contemporanea ma poi non so come trasmetterle a parole. In più, non voglio neanche rovinarci la sorpresa, quindi vi consiglio di prendere e leggere questo libro e innamorarvi di ogni singolo personaggio, anche dei secondari!
Posso dirvi, infine, che questo è un libro che segna, che ti rimane nel cuore e che va oltre alla misera definizione di dark romance. Perché si, credo che potrebbe essere letto anche da coloro che non hanno mai letto il genere o che normalmente non lo apprezzano. ASSOLUTAMENTE INCREDIBILE!

DO YOU LOVE BOOKS WITH A STRONG FEMALE MAIN CHARACTER?
So, THEN... in the last review I told you about a dark romance that had disappointed me a little, but now, my readers, we're back on track. Oh yes, because this was a real revelation! In this book, it seems that @_v_riviere gave her all and, for being the first work of this author, I must admit that it is so well done that it seems written by an experienced writer.
With #AnEmpireOfMaddness we are at the second volume of the saga, in this case we have moved to the town of Greensburg, a place where crime is particularly flourishing, but lives covered by the brilliant patina of a business-rich society. Right here lives Victoria, a girl who has a strong pulse and who knows what she wants, especially regarding Apocalys, her organization. But it is here that we find Maddox, a character who to define as controversial is an understatement, a living enigma who has a certain inclination and obsession towards our protagonist. I'll let you imagine what could happen when their paths cross and not just because of his insane will.
Although this volume obviously contains all the characteristics that make a book of this genre, the thing that amazed me and glued me to the pages is something else. Yes, we have a good dose of enemies to lovers, borderline behaviors and situations, adrenaline-filled scenes and everything I love to read in mafia romance. But, guys, there's so much more here. The author uses sophisticated, but not complicated, writing to delve into important and delicate themes, transmitting them through the story of the protagonists.
I loved how these topics were treated also based on the characters who experienced them firsthand and, above all, the great ability to instill their importance in the reader without, however, overwhelming him.
Honestly there is so much more to say, but I find myself in one of those situations where my brain tells me a thousand things at the same time but then I don't know how to convey them into words. Plus, I don't want to ruin the surprise either, so I recommend you pick up and read this book and fall in love with every single character, even the secondary ones!
Finally, I can tell you that this is a book that leaves a mark, that stays in your heart and that goes beyond the miserable definition of dark romance. Because yes, I think it could also be read by those who have never read the genre or who normally don't appreciate it. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
