E siamo già arrivati al terzo volume di questa bellissima saga dark romance, con alcuni trope che adoro, tra cui romantic suspense, alpha hero, anti-hero e opposites attract!

I protagonisti di questo standalone sono Ricco e Dani. Ricco è
il più grande dei fratelli Montavio, e nonostante ci si aspetti un certo modo di fare da parte sua, in realtà il suo modo di essere è lontano anni luce da quello che dovrebbe. Non ama la violenza, ma ama la sua famiglia, quindi andrà sempre di aiuto di coloro che ama, anche quando le circostanze non sono delle migliori. Ed è proprio quando cercherà di aiutare il fratello che finirà in una brutta situazione e da lì incontrerà Dani.

Ricco, avendo perso la moglie per una brutta malattia, sa cosa sia il dolore, conosce quella sensazione dove tutto sembra nero e di avere il mondo sulle spalle. Ed è per questo che si sente responsabile nei confronti di Dani, ma se inizialmente è il senso di colpa quello che lo porta da lei, pian piano capirà che c’è altro che lo spinge, qualcosa di più profondo e radicato che non pensava di poter mai più provare.

Ma quando tutto sembra poter andare per il meglio, entra in gioco una minaccia che smuove tutte le carte in tavola e porta il nostro protagonista a voler mettere tutte nero su bianco. Rischierà di rovinare tutto o lui e Dani ne usciranno più forti?

A differenza del classico mafia romance, in questo volume la suspense c’è ma è quasi secondaria, non è il filo conduttore della trama. Credo lo sia di più l’aspetto famigliare, dato che sia Ricco che Dani hanno un figlio e molto della loro vita gira intorno alla famiglia. A mio parere questo cambio di rotta non va a discapito del libro, anzi, credo che sia molto bello e dolce, e soprattutto è una novità rispetto al genere letterario a cui appartiene. Si parla molto di dovere e di responsabilità, grazie a questo, ma l’elemento adrenalinico non manca e ci tiene col fiato sospeso. La caratterizzazione dei personaggi è ben strutturata, e non si può non amarli nella loro forza e nella loro fragilità.

Jane per me non sbaglia un colpo, quindi vi consiglio moltissimo di leggere Beloved e tutta la saga!

Aaand we have already reached the third volume of this beautiful dark romance saga, with some tropes that I love, including romantic suspense, alpha hero, anti-hero and opposites attract!

 

The main characters of this standalone are Ricco and Dani. Ricco is the eldest of the Montavio brothers, and although we expect a certain way of acting from him, in reality his way of being is so far away from what it should be. He doesn't like violence, but he loves his family, so he will always go to the aid of those he cares about, even when circumstances aren't the best. And it is precisely when he tries to help his brother that he ends up in a bad situation and from there he meets Dani.

Ricco, having lost his wife to a bad illness, he knows what pain is, he knows that feeling where everything seems black and of having the world on his shoulders. And this is why he feels responsible towards Dani, but if initially it is guilt that brings him to her, little by little he will understand that there is something else that drives him, something deeper and more rooted that he didn't think he could. never be able to try again.

 

But when everything seems to be going well, a threat comes into play that shakes all the cards on the table and leads our protagonist to want to put everything in black and white. Will he risk ruining everything or will he and Dani come out stronger?

 

Unlike the classic mafia romance, in this volume there is suspense but it is almost secondary, it is not the underlying theme of the plot. I think the family aspect is more important, given that both Ricco and Dani have a son and a lot of their life revolves around family. In my opinion this change of direction is not to the detriment of the book, on the contrary, I think it is very beautiful and sweet, and above all it is new compared to the literary genre to which it belongs. There is a lot of talk about duty and responsibility, thanks to this, but the adrenaline element is not lacking and keeps us in suspense. The characterization of the characters is well structured, and one cannot help but love them in their strength and fragility.

For me, Jane doesn't miss a beat, so I highly recommend you read Beloved and the entire saga!
