Queste sono le basi della nuova storia che Claire Contreras ci presenta. Una storia dal world building complesso, tanto che inizialmente ho faticato a starci dietro, ma che poi si apre in un universo pazzesco. Un mondo singolare, ricco di sfaccettature, con regole e sistemi mai visti. E tutto questo fa da sfondo ad una trama articolata, dove tutto gira intorno ad una maledizione e ad una profezia, entrambe destinate a cambiare il mondo per come i protagonisti lo conoscono. Ma forse non รจ solo Lunaris che rischia, anzi, sono i personaggi a dover affrontare la sfida piรน grande.


Ognuno di loro, Ada, Jordi, Malachi, Kage, Margot, Arlo e tutti gli altri dovranno mettere in discussione ogni cosa: il luogo in cui sono cresciuti, la loro storia, il loro modo di vivere, chi sono davvero e ciรฒ in cui credono. Pagina dopo pagina, li vediamo affrontare nuove sfide fisiche e psicologiche, scoprendo che tutto intorno a loro รจ fatto di segreti, menzogne, intrighi e sotterfugi.

Si chiederanno chi sono davvero, se possono contare sulle persone che amano e allontanare gli estranei. O tutto il contrario. Una cosa รจ certa, niente รจ come sembra e, a volte, l’inaspettato รจ esattamente ciรฒ di cui si ha piรน bisogno.


La parte migliore di questo libro รจ il ruolo singolare giocato dai sentimenti, specialmente il dolore…. o la mancanza di esso, insieme ai ricordi, futuri e passati. Il tutto รจ collegato ed unito da un filo conduttore che riguarda strettamente la base della storia e del world building, ma รจ anche inserito in contesti a se stanti, come i poteri o doni che i personaggi possiedono (o soffocano).


Insomma, una storia complessa di certo ma che merita di essere letta. E poi chi non vorrebbe un bookboyfriend come Malachi?

These are the foundations of the new story Claire Contreras presents to us. A story with complex worldbuilding, so complex that I struggled to keep up with it at first, but which then opens up into a stunning universe. A singular world, rich in nuances, with unprecedented rules and systems. And all of this forms the backdrop to a complex plot, where everything revolves around a curse and a prophecy, both destined to change the world as the protagonists know it. But perhaps it's not just Lunaris that's at risk; rather, it's the characters who must face the greatest challenge.


Each of them—Ada, Jordi, Malachi, Kage, Margot, Arlo, and all the others—will have to question everything: the place they grew up, their history, their way of life, who they really are, and what they believe in. Page after page, we see them face new physical and psychological challenges, discovering that everything around them is made of secrets, lies, intrigue, and subterfuge.

They'll wonder who they really are, whether they can count on the people they love and keep strangers at bay. Or quite the opposite. One thing's for sure: nothing is as it seems, and sometimes the unexpected is exactly what you need most.


The best part of this book is the unique role played by feelings, especially pain... or the lack thereof, along with memories, both future and past. Everything is connected and united by a common thread that strictly relates to the foundation of the story and worldbuilding, but is also inserted into contexts of its own, such as the powers or gifts the characters possess (or suppress).


In short, a complex story, certainly, but one worth reading. And who wouldn't want a bookboyfriend like Malachi?
