Allora allora… con questo libro ripartiamo dalla fine dal volume precedente e torniamo subito immersi nelle vicende che coinvolgono Avery e gli altri quattro ragazzoni. Con un finale come quello era impossibile aspettare l’uscita di Edge of Steel senza impazzire, ma ammetto che l’attesa ne è valsa la pena.

Avery continua ad essere una protagonista forte e risoluta, una che se decide una cosa si mantiene su quella linea d’onda, anche quando i sentimenti si fanno forti. Ho apprezzato tantissimo la sua indipendenza, la sua forza d’animo e come rimane ferma sulle sue decisioni senza lasciare che quattro affascinanti ragazzi la pieghino al loro volere… non quando sono stati proprio loro a voltarle le spalle per primi.

 

Lei continua nel suo percorso verso la carriera di Guardiana, non si lascia distrarre nè da loro nè da altri personaggi che amano pizzicarla nè tantomeno da insegnanti misogini e retrogradi che cercano di spaventarla e di farla apparire debole. Ora si trovano tutti il campus estivo per allenarsi, ma se dentro di lei infuria una battaglia fatta di decisioni, sentimenti e seconde possibilità, fuori c’è un’altra battaglia da combattere. Figure più o meno misteriose di muovono nell’ombra, muovono pedine e cercano di mettersi sulla strada di Avery, della squadra Blackwell e puntano ad un obiettivo molto più grande e pericoloso.

 

Anche questo volume è un perfetto concentrato di suspense, azione, amore, amicizia, segreti e tanto altro. Un libro che segue perfettamente le orme del precedente e ci porta con sé tra le sue spire. Ogni parola, frase e pagine è perfettamente piazzata per far in modo che si è completamente assorti dalla storia, sempre più curiosi di scoprire cosa Avery sceglierà di fare o chi si nasconde dietro avvenimenti strani e inaspettati. Non credo di poter aspettare il terzo, ci sono ancora troppe cose da scoprire!

So... with this book, we pick up where the previous volume ended and immediately dive back into the events involving Avery and the other four young men. With an ending like that, it was impossible to wait for the release of Edge of Steel without going crazy, but I admit the wait was worth it.

My mates rejected me, and now they’ve come crawling back. It’s too little, too late....

Avery continues to be a strong and resolute protagonist, someone who, once she decides something, sticks to it, even when emotions run high. I really appreciated her independence, her strength of spirit, and how she stands firm in her decisions, never letting four charming young men bend her to their will... not when they were the ones who turned their backs on her in the first place.

 

She continues on her path toward becoming a Guardian, undistracted by them, by other characters who like to tease her, or by misogynistic and backward teachers who try to scare her and make her appear weak. Now they're all at summer camp to train, but while a battle of decisions, feelings, and second chances rages inside her, there's another battle to be fought outside. More or less mysterious figures move in the shadows, moving pawns and trying to get in the way of Avery and the Blackwell team, aiming for a much larger and more dangerous goal.

 

This volume is also a perfect blend of suspense, action, love, friendship, secrets, and so much more. A book that perfectly follows in the footsteps of the previous one and draws us into its coils. Every word, sentence, and page is perfectly placed to ensure that we are completely absorbed in the story, increasingly curious to discover what Avery will choose to do or who is hiding behind strange and unexpected events. I don't think I can wait for the third one; there's still so much to discover!
