Avevo giΓ  letto altri libri della Hensley, quindi quando ho scoperto che ne sarebbe uscito un nuovo non potevo non emozionarmi! CiΓ² che ho giΓ  letto nato dalla sua penna mi aveva conquistata; perciΓ², sapevo che sarei andata sul sicuro anche in questo caso. E devo dire che le mie aspettative sono state decisamente rispettate!


Anche in questo caso ci troviamo davanti un dark romance in piena regola con alcun interessanti tropes, come age-gap o forbidden. Insomma, se deciderete di intraprendere questo viaggio, sappiate che non sarΓ  una lettura leggerissima nΓ©, tantomeno, tutta rose e fiori, ma sicuramente vi terrΓ  col fiato sospeso ad ogni pagina!

Storee, la nostra protagonista, vive nella parte piΓΉ povera di Heathens Hollow, luogo dove gli abitanti fanno parte o della fascia povera o di quella esattamente al contrario, ricchissima. Ma questa Γ¨ anche un’isola che gioca secondo regole singolari e del tutto differenti dal resto del mondo, e lei si ritrova a dover sopravvivere in una societΓ  dove la ricchezza e la depravazione fanno da padrone dopo la morte prematura del padre.


Lei Γ¨ quanto piΓΉ decisa a farcela con le proprie forze, ma Locke, il miglior amico del padre, Γ¨ altrettanto deciso a proteggerla a tutti i costi dai mostri che pullulano quel luogo. Ma cosa succede quando egli stesso non Γ¨ il piΓΉ innocente degli uomini e l’interesse verso la ragazza non Γ¨ dettato solo dal senso del dovere verso il padre di lei?


In parole povere, preparatevi ad addentrarvi in una storia da capogiro, che vi farΓ  sentire ai tropici nonostante fuori sia pieno inverno, e con la tachicardia un istante si e l’altro pure (per molteplici motivi!). Vi invito, inoltre, a controllare la lista dei TWs prima di iniziare la lettura!

I had already read other Hensley’s books, so when I found out that a new one was coming out, I couldn't help but get excited! What I have already read from her had won me over; therefore, I knew I would be on the safe side in this case too. And I must say that my expectations were definitely met!


Also, in this case we are faced with a full-blown dark romance with some interesting tropes, such as age-gap or forbidden. In short, if you decide to undertake this journey, you have to know that it will not be a very light read nor, much less, all roses, but it will certainly keep you in suspense with every page!

Storee, our main characters, lives in the poorest part of Heathens Hollow, a place where the inhabitants are either part of the poor group or exactly the opposite, very rich. But this is also an island that plays according to singular and completely different rules from the rest of the world, and she finds herself having to survive in a society where wealth and depravity reign supreme, after the premature death of her father.

 

She is determined to make it on her own, but Locke, her father's best friend, is equally determined to protect her at all costs from the monsters that swarm that place. But what happens when he himself is not the most innocent of men and his interest in the girl is not dictated only by his sense of duty towards her father?


In simple words, prepare to delve into a dizzying story, which will make you feel like you are in the tropics even though it is winter outside, and always with tachycardia (for multiple reasons!).
