Ho scoperto l’autrice e il libro un po’ per caso, proprio all’inizio della promozione… quando c’erano poche informazioni e curiosità, ma qualcosa mi ha attirato tantissimo e ne sono rimasta ossessionata!

Quando ho saputo che avrei potuto leggere il libro in anteprima ero felicissima e posso dire con tutta tranquillità che questa è stata una vera rivelazione!

 

Quella che Charlene ci mette davanti è una storia enemies-to-lovers ambientata in un regno immaginario, quello di Kalyn, dove gli umani sono fin troppo a conoscenza dell’esistenza dei vampiri e della magia. A seguito di una guerra che ha visto le due specie affrontarsi su fronti opposti, gli umani ne sono usciti perdenti e, per questo, ora sono alla mercè totale dei vampiri. Ora ridotti ad una vita di servitù, chi in un modo e chi nell’altro, mentre altri ancora hanno la sfortuna di nascere ed essere allevati solo ed esclusivamente per essere la riserva di sangue dei vampiri.

 

La nostra Adina fa parte di questa ultima categoria, strappata ai genitori da piccola e cresciuta con in mente che il suo unico valore è ciò che le scorre nelle vene. Ma lei non è una ragazza che accetta il suo destino in modo passivo, nel suo piccolo si ribella e vuole cercare un modo per poter dare una voce a tutti coloro che soffrono come lei. Soprattutto vuole proteggere e salvare l’unica persona della sua famiglia che le è rimasta, la sorella. Le due hanno un legame speciale, un affetto incredibile e vogliono solo il bene dell’altra, e sarà proprio una minaccia alla vita di Willow a dare un ultimatum ad Adina, uno che potrebbe mettere al repentaglio anche la sua stessa vita ma che potrebbe darle la possibilità di arrivare a compiere il suo fine ultimo. Ma sarà davvero così o il destino ha altro in serbo per lei?

 

Ci sono tante forze in gioco, intrighi e sotterfugi… e queste forze hanno messo in moto un circuito vizioso che ha portato Adina sulla strada del principe dei vampiri, famoso per essere il più forte e spietato del suo regno. Inutile dire che da qua in poi le cose si faranno sempre più interessanti e particolari, Adina tutto si aspettava dalla corte dei vampiri tranne quello che ha trovato. Sembra essere stata catapultata in un mondo parallelo, dove addirittura i vampiri sono creature di cui si può essere amici… ma ben presto scoprirà che c’è qualcuno di più grosso e cattivo del principe. Qualcuno che mette a rischio la vita e l’esistenza di entrambe le specie, qualcuno che potrebbe essere più vicino di quanto si pensi.

 

Bene, ora ho parlato tanto e probabilmente non si è capito nulla, ma lasciatemi dire che questa è una storia impossibile da dimenticare, una che ti entra sottopelle e non ti lascia più. Una storia di personaggi forti, una storia di rivincita, di riscoperta, di amore e desiderio di difendere chi si ama, di libertà. Ci sono tanti personaggi che danno tutto, ne leggi e sembra di sentirli, li vivi come persone vere e senti il loro dolore, la loro tenacia come fossero forze tangibili e vibranti. Una storia carica di significato di certo, seppur non dobbiamo dimenticarci che davanti abbiamo un romantasy e, come tale, è ricco di azione, di vicissitudini, di plot twist, dove i momenti di suspense si bilanciano egregiamente a quelli strappalacrime.

 

Vi consiglio una cosa: TENETEVI I FAZZOLETTI VICINO, VI SERVIRANNO! E siate pronti ad emozionarvi a tutto spiano, perchè non farete altro!

I discovered the author and the book somewhat by chance, right at the beginning of the promotion... when there was little information and curiosity, but something really attracted me and I was obsessed!

When I learned I could read the book in advance, I was overjoyed, and I can safely say it was a real revelation!

 

What Charlene presents to us is an enemies-to-lovers story set in a fictional kingdom, that of Kalyn, where humans are all too aware of the existence of vampires and magic. Following a war that saw the two species clash on opposing sides, humans emerged as losers and, as a result, are now at the complete mercy of the vampires. Now reduced to a life of servitude, some in one way or another, while others still have the misfortune of being born and raised solely and exclusively to be the vampires' blood supply.

 

Our Adina falls into this latter category, torn from her parents as a child and raised with the belief that her only value is what flows through her veins. But she isn't a girl who passively accepts her fate; in her own small way, she rebels and wants to find a way to give a voice to all those who suffer like her. Above all, she wants to protect and save the only remaining member of her family, her sister. The two have a special bond, an incredible affection, and they only want the best for each other. It's precisely a threat to Willow's life that will present Adina with an ultimatum, one that could jeopardize her own life but could give her the chance to achieve her ultimate goal. But will it really be this way, or does fate have something else in store for her?

 

There are many forces at play, intrigues and subterfuges... and these forces have set in motion a vicious cycle that has led Adina down the path of the vampire prince, renowned for being the strongest and most ruthless in his kingdom. It goes without saying that from here on out, things only get more interesting and unique. Adina expected everything from the vampire court except what she found. She seems to have been catapulted into a parallel world, where even vampires are creatures you can befriend... but she will soon discover that there is someone bigger and more evil than the prince. Someone who threatens the lives and existence of both species, someone who may be closer than you think.

 

Well, I've said so much now and you probably haven't understood a thing, but let me tell you that this is an unforgettable story, one that gets under your skin and never lets go. A story of strong characters, a story of revenge, of rediscovery, of love and the desire to defend those you love, of freedom. There are so many characters who give everything, you read about them and you feel them, you experience them as real people and feel their pain, their tenacity as if they were tangible, vibrant forces. A story full of meaning, certainly, though we mustn't forget that this is a romance, and as such, it's packed with action, adventure, and plot twists, where moments of suspense are perfectly balanced with tear-jerking moments.

 

I recommend one thing: KEEP YOUR TISSUES CLOSE, YOU'LL NEED THEM! And be prepared to be completely moved, because you won't be able to do anything else!
