Ormai sono ufficialmente entrata nella mia shifter era e uniamo anche l’elemento why choose, allora sono ufficialmente conquistata!
Non ho mai avuto il piacere di leggere la penna di Elizabeth, quindi Clash Of Claws è stato il mio primo approccio alle sue opere e ne sono rimasta assolutamente soddisfatta!
Quello che abbiamo davanti è uno shifter romance dal sapore un po’ classico, avendo tutte le caratteristiche del genere, ma non per questo non ha qualcosa di speciale. Anzi! La parte che più apprezzato è la storia della protagonista e il suo carattere: Avery è una ragazza che è costretta a nascondere quello che è davvero, perché se l’informazione dovesse arrivare alle orecchie sbagliate, la sua vita potrebbe essere in serio pericolo. Questo, però, non l’ha portata a nascondersi o a chiudersi in se stessa, bensì è stata per lei una ragione in più per allenarsi e diventare più forte, sia dal lato più fisico che quello più personale. Un personaggio ben costruito, che sprona anche il lettore a cercare dentro di sé una forza inconscia per poter affrontare tutte le situazioni. Ma non è solo forza e coraggio, Avery porta nel suo animo anche una grande empatia e un amore infinito verso la sua famiglia e condivide un legame speciale con suo fratello Ian.
Nel tentativo di cercare un modo di vivere una vita più tranquilla, Avery è costretta ad iscriversi ad un college a carattere militare ed è proprio lì che incontrerà Heath, Wyatt, Aiden ed Elijah. Loro sono il gruppo più capace e forte all’interno della cerchia dei Guardiani e provano subito una certa curiosità verso la nostra protagonista, un sentimento che è condiviso da entrambe le parti ma che è anche qualcosa che nessuno capisce a fondo e la vivono come viene. Loro sono anche gli unici che non la giudicano per voler entrare nei Guardiani, essendo un gruppo d’élite e piuttosto masch!lista.
Quello che mi è piaciuto è che ognuno di questi ragazzi ha una sua personalità, ben distinta dagli altri e con caratteri decisi: c’è chi cede prima, chi cede dopo, chi ha un carattere più dolce e chi più duro, ma insieme si completano e rendono il gruppo più unito. Vi assicuro anche che ognuno di loro vi ruberà il cuoricino, tenetevi forte!
Ovviamente le sfide non mancano e Avery dovrà difendersi sotto vari punti di vista, sia da chi non la accetta sia da quei sentimenti che non capisce. Le sfide più fisiche le vedremo sia durante gli allenamenti che fuori, quindi preparatevi ad avere costantemente il fiato sospeso!

I've officially entered my shifter era, and if we add the "why choose" element, then I'm officially hooked!
I've never had the pleasure of reading Elizabeth's work, so Clash of Claws was my first introduction to her work, and I was absolutely delighted!
What we have before us is a shifter romance with a somewhat classic feel, possessing all the hallmarks of the genre, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have something special. On the contrary! The part I most appreciated is the protagonist's story and her character: Avery is a girl who is forced to hide who she really is, because if the information were to reach the wrong ears, her life could be in serious danger. This, however, hasn't led her to hide or withdraw into herself, but rather has been an additional reason for her to train and become stronger, both physically and personally. A well-crafted character, who also encourages the reader to search within themselves for the unconscious strength to face any situation. But it's not just strength and courage; Avery also carries within her great empathy and boundless love for her family, and she shares a special bond with her brother Ian.
In an attempt to find a way to live a more peaceful life, Avery is forced to enroll in a military college, where she meets Heath, Wyatt, Aiden, and Elijah. They are the most capable and strong group within the Guardians' circle and immediately develop a certain curiosity toward our protagonist, a feeling shared by both but also something neither fully understands, and they take it as it comes. They are also the only ones who don't judge her for wanting to join the Guardians, given that they are an elite and rather macho group.
What I liked is that each of these kids has their own personality, very distinct from the others and with strong personalities: some give in sooner, some give in later, some are softer, some are tougher, but together they complement each other and make the group more united. I assure you, each one of them will steal your heart, so brace yourself!
Of course, there's no shortage of challenges, and Avery will have to defend herself on various levels, both from those who don't accept her and from those feelings she doesn't understand. We'll see the more physical challenges both during and outside of training, so prepare to be constantly on the edge of your seat!
